Cornwall, my home, is famous for its stunning scenery and ever-changing light, which attracts artists and photographers from all over the world. As your guide, I will take you to some of the lesser-known, picturesque coves and iconic viewpoints. Whether you're interested in capturing exquisite seascapes, surf photography, or landscapes, I will ensure that you're in the right place at the right time. We'll work together to help you master the art of composition, and learn how to simplify scenes for greater impact, using a range of techniques. During the workshops, you'll have the opportunity to ask me any burning questions and learn from my experience.
Throughout my career, I have always relied on storytelling as the backbone of my work. This is reflected in my photography workshops, which aim to provide an authentic and genuine experience for participants. By spending a day with an experienced photographer, you will have the opportunity to enhance your skills and knowledge behind the lens.
IN-PERSON PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS
The workshops will primarily focus on Seascapes, Landscapes, Surf Photography, Outdoor Lifestyle Photography, and tuition in the art of branding for Photographers. The groups will be kept small to give you plenty of opportunities to ask me any questions and learn from my experience. Additionally, you’ll form friendships and connections with other like-minded photographers during the workshops.

Join Karl for a one-day photography workshop in Cornwall, available throughout the year. The workshop will be tailored to your specific needs and areas of improvement, whether you are a beginner seeking to learn the basics or an experienced photographer looking to refine your skills. I will work with you to help improve your photography skills and abilities, and help you develop as a photographer.

THIS IS CORNWALL | FIVE-DAY WORKSHOP
Cornwall is known for its rugged and dramatic coastline that boasts spectacular scenery. Join Karl on a 5-day adventure to explore and photograph this beautiful region, which is the backbone of his work. During this adventure, you will discover secluded coves, sixty-foot waterfalls, stunning seascapes, wild headlands, historical ruins, surf beaches, moorland rivers, lighthouses, and dramatic caves. You will be in the company of like-minded individuals who share your passion for photography. This is a non-stop 5-day adventure that will help you improve your skills as a photographer and a storyteller.

SURF PHOTOGRAPHY | THREE-DAY WORKSHOP
Join Karl for a 3-day surf photography workshop in Cornwall where you can elevate your skills and vision. The workshop is specifically designed to help you capture the essence of surfing and explore different techniques and approaches to photographing surfing. You will learn about the interplay of light, composition, and the decisive moment on the beach and in the water. Our main focus is to help you get out of your comfort zone and build a narrative around this workshop that you can retell after the trip.

PHOTOGRAPHY AND HIKING | FOUR-DAY WORKSHOP IN THE LAKE DISTRICT
Set alongside the stunning Lake District backdrop, Karl Mackie joins forces with Karen Field, our experienced mountain guide, to explore the fells and hone your photography skills. Working from sunrise through to sunset, you'll learn how to capture breathtaking landscapes as part of storytelling photography, creating a narrative that runs through your work.
The four-day, three-night break includes:

Join Karl for a seascape photography workshop in Cornwall during the North Atlantic's most active season. Cornwall boasts plenty of potential for creative photography, but the challenge lies in capturing the overwhelming scenery and ever-changing light in an impactful and original way. This workshop is designed to be highly interactive, exploring various photography styles through a minimalist approach to capturing dramatic seascapes. It's a three-day outdoor adventure that's wild and untamed, and we'll be exploring Cornwall together with nothing but our backpacks and a flask of coffee, drawing inspiration from each other along the way.

LET’S TALK PHOTOGRAPHY | ONE-DAY TALK
Are you a photographer who wants to take your skills to the next level? Join Karl and other attendees at this one-day photography workshop in Cornwall. This comprehensive talk is designed to help you build your brand and attract the right clients, covering everything from photographic theory to in-depth business practices. The workshop runs from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and will cover topics such as inspiration, gear, shooting techniques, client acquisition, storytelling, and more.
This is a group session format, where everyone is encouraged to ask questions and pick Karl's brain. You'll have the opportunity to get answers to all your burning questions about photography.
